From Lowcountry Home Loans to Lowcountry Lending Group

You may know us as Lowcountry Home Loans — we’ve been serving South Carolina borrowers under that name for years. The rebrand to Lowcountry Lending Group isn’t a change in who we are. It’s a more honest reflection of what we do.
We’ve always served more than homebuyers. Real estate investors, self-employed business owners, commercial clients, people with complex income and big goals — they’ve always been part of our story. The new name just says that out loud.
The foundation stays the same: independent brokerage, wholesale lender access, and a straight answer every time you ask a question.

Taylor spent time early in his career seeing how the mortgage business worked from multiple angles — retail lenders, big banks, and independent brokerages. The difference was clear.

At a bank or retail lender, you get that institution’s products at that institution’s rates. The loan officer’s job is to put you in whatever fits their shelf. At an independent brokerage, the job is different: find the right lender for your specific situation, at wholesale pricing, from a market of 50+ options.

His family has called South Carolina home for nearly 350 years — his ancestors arrived in Charleston in 1680 as French Huguenots. Taylor grew up in Greenville, went to school in Columbia, and now lives on Johns Island with his wife Caroline, their daughter Charley, and their doodle Poppy. When he’s not closing deals, you’ll find him on the water — fishing and boating on Charleston’s surrounding waterways — or loudly supporting the Gamecocks.

Taylor has been writing mortgages for 14 years — starting just two weeks after graduating from the University of South Carolina. He didn’t grow up in finance. He grew up in real estate. His father was a plumber, and Taylor was on job sites by the time he was five years old. By 12, he co-owned a lawn care business that ran through high school. He worked as a Page in the SC Senate the summer before his senior year — for his cousin, who served as State Senator for Pickens County. Real work, real people, real early.
That background shaped how Taylor thinks about this business. Mortgages aren’t paperwork — they’re the mechanism through which people build equity, grow portfolios, and create generational wealth. It’s the American Dream with a loan number attached.
Taylor doesn’t just lend on investment properties — he owns them. He’s renovated every property in his portfolio himself, which includes rentals in Downtown Charleston and Greenville, SC. When an investor client asks about the process, he’s not speaking theoretically.
